The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a Chairman Wontumi is urging Ghanaians and the NPP to ignore the decision of the former trade minister Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the party and move on with determination to win the 2024 elections.

According to him, the ruling party has a track record of turning around the fortunes of the country.

“We’ll protect Dr Bawumia as we protected President Nana-Addo, Nobady will follow you with your Butterfly and the NPP will survive and win the 2024 elections”

This follows the resignation of Mr Alan Kyerematen from the NPP to go independent come 2024

A former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who has just resigned from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has also declared his intention to contest upcoming 2024 presidential election as an independent candidate, says his decision will help to change the political status quo by moving Ghana beyond the duopoly of the two main political parties in Ghana; the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Kyeremanten who addressed a press conference in Accra on Monday, September 25, 2023, said he decision to break out of the NPP and to contest the upcoming Presidential election as an independent candidate was borne out of the failure of the party to address his concerns and that of his supporters.

“It’s a curse to be ungrateful to the party that made you whom you are today, how many leaders survived or succeeded after resigning from their traditional party. 2024 is a game of northerners and you cannot disrupt the NPP.”

Chairman Wontumi assured the NPP in Ashanti Region that the Nation level will address these issues and guarantee the future prosperity of the party.

“We are NPP and will forever fight for the elephant”
