The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will recapture the Akuapem South seat in the 2028 elections.
According to him, the seat was lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the last elections by a narrow margin of 134 votes, an indication that certain things went wrong.
He told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show that the party acknowledges that it was unfortunate they could not retain the seat after the incumbent MP, O.B. Amoah, decided not to run for re-election. However, he emphasized that with unity and hard work, the NPP can reclaim the seat. He described the Akuapem South seat as “a borrowed seat to the NDC” and assured that the NPP will provide the necessary support to recapture it.
The MP for Akuapem North pledged to commit himself and his constituency to assist Akuapem South in their bid to recapture the seat.
“The people of Akuapem South will have an NPP MP by 2029, “He expressed optimism.
This sentiment is shared by other NPP leaders, who believes the party will return to power in 2028.
