NPP flagbearer hopeful Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has become the first candidate among the aspirants to be vetted ahead of the November 4, presidential primaries.
The former Minister of Trade and Industry was vetted on Monday, July 3 by the party’s 9 member committee chaired by Prof Mike Oquaye on the first day of the vetting process at the party’s campaign office at Kokomelemele in Accra.
This is the second time the former Minister had taken the lead after being the first to submit his forms picked by some market women at GH¢50,000 when nominations opened last month.
Speaking to the media after his vetting, Mr Kyerematen described the process as very friendly, adding that it was “familiar and comfortable.”
He said the process was not new to him after several attempts with the sitting President, Nana Akuffo-Addo since 2007.
Per the party’s guidelines, the outcome of the vetting process is not to be disclosed, but Mr Kyeremateng described this as part of the tradition and practice of the party
Mr Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku was also vetted early on Monday before the committee went on break for one hour to prepare for the Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Reports say a huge crowd of supporters of BMW gathered at the venue for the vetting waiting for him.
