NPP To Investigate Causes Of Huge Parliamentary Seat Losses – Nimako
The Director of Elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Evans Nimako, has hinted that the leadership of the ruling party will soon investigate all the factors that led to the defeat of a good number of parliamentarians of the ruling party in the just ended election for an opinion to be formed.
Mr. Nimako who was speaking exclusively on Wontumi TV/Radio in Kumasi on Monday said the huge number of seats lost by its sitting parliamentarians is disturbing but assured that the party will address the challenge and any such occurrence.
“This search will happen at all levels of the party’s structures.” He said.
On the controversy that has generated over the declaration of the poll results at Sene West, Mr. Nimako said “the matter will definitely be settled in court.”
“The NPP strongly believes in the rule of law and would not resort to any form of violence to resolve an election dispute.” He remarked.
“We will not take the law into our own hands when we have a dispute hanging on an election result declaration because the law court is the best place to resolve all such matters.” He added.
The election expert confirmed that the NPP currently controls 137 parliamentary seats while the NDC has 136 seats.
Mr Nimako urged the NDC members to also seek legal recourse in addressing all the so-called electoral fraud cases it claims to have uncovered.
