NPP Outdoors Parliamentary Candidates In Ashanti
All the 47 New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) Parliamentary Candidates in the Ashanti Region were outdoored at an impressive ceremony at the KNUST’s Great Hall in Kumasi on Sunday.
The Parliamentary Candidates comprise both old and new faces.
Among the veterans is Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu. Among the new faces is the CEO of MASLOC, Stephen Amoah fondly called Sticker.
The National Chairman of the Party, lawyer Freddie Blay, was assisted by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, introduced the Candidates to the gathering.
Mr Blay challenged the Candidates to make the ruling Party’s hope of retaining power a reality.
“History is going to repeat itself and I trust you that you will make it a reality by winning about 95% of the votes expected to be cast in Ashanti.” He charged them.
Mr Blay noted that the opposition NDC is doing all it can to deny the NPP victory in the December election.
“The NPP has set itself the target of making the nation prosperous. It is in view of this that we have to continue to be in power so that the good tidings will continue to come the way of the NPP.” He noted.
The National Chairman commended Chairman Wontumi for his hard work and determination to win all the Parliamentary seats for the NPP and none for the opposition.
Deputy National Campaign Manager, Lord Commey, called on the candidates to initiate a one on one encounter programme with all the 3.7 million voters in Ashanti.
He recommended a line from the refrain of a popular Methodist hymn numbered 548, “A child to keep I have,” as a war song for all the aspirants as they go onto the field to campaign.
Mr Commey admitted that the task ahead is an ardous one because as he put it, the NDC is using lies and deception as a powerful tool to deceive the people.
“All you have to do to counter the NDC’s propaganda is to stick to our message which is underpinned by our achievements in the past three-and-half years under our great Leader, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government.” He noted.
Chairman Wontumi gave a brief of his organizational structure comprising of various committees which have been formed to spearhead the attainment of the NPP’s Agenda 47/47 in Ashanti.
The committees include those on communication, media, social protocol, Volunteer management, Legal among others.
