NPP Needs a Presidential Candidate Who Can Win, Not Just a Flagbearer – Kennedy Kamkam
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is facing a crucial decision in the upcoming elections, and according to former Nhyiaso MP, Hon. Kennedy Kankam, the party needs a candidate who can become President of Ghana, not just a flagbearer.
Speaking in an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu, Kankam emphasized that the party’s focus should be on winning the general elections, rather than just selecting a flagbearer.
“We need a President of Ghana and not just a flagbearer,” Kankam stressed. “If it was just about flagbearer, we could have elected anyone. Everything we do should be geared towards winning the general elections; that’s the focus, and not the flagbearer.”
Kankam urged party members to prioritize the party’s interests over personal preferences, saying that if a preferred candidate has no chance of winning, they should step aside for the greater good of the party.
“You may be fine with some of the candidates, but if you realize your preferred candidate has no probability of letting us win the general elections, please, be kind to the party and drop your support,” he advised.
The former MP also emphasized the need for a unifying candidate who understands the job requirements, rather than just anyone chosen out of parochial interests. “We need a unifier as a candidate… someone who knows the job and not just anybody out of parochial interest,” he said.
