Until the arrival of Dr. Bawumia, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) used to have the lion’s share of votes in the Northern region, but that is no more according to Dr. Joshua Jebuntie Zaato.
The Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana explained on the Wontumi Morning Show that through Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is now “eating” the NDC’s “lunch” in the region.
“For a very long NDC has been winning massively in the Northern region until Bawumia arrived…In the northern region proper, the seats have been equally divided by NDC and NPP”.
In the North East region, Dr. Joshua Jebuntie Zaato says the NPP now has all the seats.
In the Savannah region which is former President John Mahama’s home region, the NPP has performed well according to him by capturing some seats there.
“What it means is that the NPP through Bawumia is eating the NDC’s lunch in the northern”, he simply put.
He went on to commend Dr. Bawumia for selecting Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate stating that his nomination will lockdown votes for the NPP in Ashanti and Eastern region.
“They are building a wall in the middle belt through Napo. He will lock down Ashanti and Eastern”, he said.
