A communications team member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Patrick Awuku, has indicated that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are better managers of the economy than the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, the NPP is able to work to ensure that all the key economic indicators point to the positive direction.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, on Wontumi Radio/Movement TV, Mr. Awuku stated that “the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the fall of the cedi cannot be compared to the fall of the cedi under the Mahama regime which never suffered any global crisis”.
“The continuous depreciation of the cedi against the dollar is due to world market prices of fuel and rising food prices due to the international boycott of Russian oil, which makes the demand for fuel higher with fewer oil for distribution”, he said.
He stated that the economic hardship affecting growth and productivity in the country were primarily driven by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine crisis and not a leadership bound problem.
“We are going to the International Monetary Fund(IMF),for a bailout so that our inflation rate will reduce and I’m optimistic that the homegrown measures adopted by the government will yield positive results to relieve Ghanaians of the global economic crisis”, he stressed.
