Nobody Can Stage Coup, We Have Gallant Security Protecting Ghana- Deputy Defence Minister
The Deputy Defence Minister, Lawyer Kofi Amankwaa Manu has called on Ghanaians not to let fear grip them on the uprising speculations by some people.
Kofi Amankwaaa Manu emphasized that Ghana has gallant security agencies that are protecting its peace and that nobody can stage a coup.
He made this known during a launch of the Kofi Amankwaa Manu- Livelihood Empowerment (KAM-LEP) Project in partnership with KTU at Brofoyeduru in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
The lawmaker’s comment comes after the Police have arrested the Convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement Oliver Barker-Vormawor who is also a legal practitioner for allegedly writing on social media that he would topple the government if the E-levy bill is passed.
“Coup is not the way to go. Those seeking to do a coup, have they experienced some before?” he asked.
Launch of KAM-LEP Project
Lawyer Kofi Amankwaa noted that the people of Atwima Kwanwoma will use their strength to learn artisanal work to promote Ghana and not to stage a coup.
He called on the beneficiaries of the fashion module under the KAM-LEP to utilize the opportunity to succeed in life.
Lawyer Kofi Amankwaa Manu presented 102 sewing machines and certificates to the beneficiaries as part of the effort to facilitate the training.
He charged them not to let his efforts be in vain.
“I have the people of Atwima Kwanwoma at heart and I have a good mind for them. You should support me to develop the area. Hence Atwima Kwanwoma will be the best sector of development,” he said.
The KAM- LEP Project coordinator who is also a Senior Research Fellow of the Kumasi Technical University’s Institute of Research, Innovation and Development, Dr. Smart Sarpong stated that unemployment is used for a political game since nobody knows the figure of the unemployed people.
Dr. Smart Sarpong indicated that the beneficiaries who have acquired training at the KTU should know that, they are professionals.
He commanded the MP for the area for such initiative.
Explaining the overview of the project, the First Vice Chairman for the Constituency, Kofi Oduro Kyeremateng said the vision of the MP is to eradicate unemployment and poverty in the area.
“Lawyer Kofi Amankwaa Manu wants to end social vices. And create sustainable income for the youth,” he added.
Kofi Oduro Kyeremateng hinted that the MP is working tirelessly for the constituency to be counted among the well-developed constituencies.
Some of the seamstress Masters who will train the beneficiaries called on their fellow Masters to exhibit a good attitude to the beneficiaries so the efforts by the MP won’t be a waste.
They urged the trainees to be obedient and develop a passion to learn sewing.
