Bernard Antwi Boasiako, a leading contender for the National Chairmanship position of the New Patriotic Party, has given a hint of how a future government of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia would be, as it will not allow people who did not work for the party whilst in political wilderness to take over.
He gave the assurance that untill one is certified from his or her constituency as a true party member who tirelessly worked for the return of the party, no appointment would be given.
Giving explanation to his statement at a meeting with NPP constituency executives in the Asamankese zone, he made it emphatically clear that, one key reason that created much dissatisfaction leading to the 2024 defeat, was the appointment of certain people in key government positions who did not know anything about the NPP and its members.
“Most of these appointees had no idea of how party structure works. They had no clue of how poling station organization works. And they do not even know their executives so had no reason to offer help to them.”
“Now they are nowhere to be found ever since we lost…this mistake will never happen again,” Bernard Antwi Boasiako assured.
While chairman Wontumi clearly recognizes the massive contributions of the diaspora in the total forward march of the party, he wants them to be actively involved also at their various constituencies.
This, according to Wontumi, will ensure stronger party unity and enhance Party- government relations.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman is in the Eastern region, spending three days with party executives, as part of his nationwide campaign tour to seek support for his national chairmanship bid.
He is accompanied by Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, former Member of Parliament for New Edubiase Constituency, Hon. George Oduro, Mr Banahene Berdiako, from DCE-Sekyere Central, Ahafo-Region 1st vice chairman, Justice Appiah- Antwi, Karikari John Effiduase Asokore constituency chairman and other high ranking members of the party.
