Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, in a bold move has vowed to take legal action against the government for terminating appointments made by the previous administration.
The MP’s decision comes after the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, directed government institutions to nullify appointments made by the erstwhile NPP government after December 7, 2024.
Assafuah has urged individuals who were appointed through proper procedures to contact him, promising to fight for their rights in court.
“No one will be allowed to have their appointment terminated on the altar of political gimmicks, people who have gone through the proper procedures as Ghanaians will be protected under the law.”
The MP is relying on Article 14 of the 1992 Ghanaian Constitution, which protects citizens from unfair treatment, he has promised to lead a suit at the High Court to ensure that the rights of the affected individuals are protected.
“I’ll lead a suit at the Anix Court to make sure that I protect the affected persons under the constitution specifically article 14 of the 1992 constitution, no one would be allowed to be disappointed or no one will be allowed to his appointment terminated on the Altar of political gimmicks.”
The MP has also assured affected individuals that the future NPP government will reappoint them, even if their initial efforts fail.
He has urged young people not to lose hope, promising to represent them in court and protect their rights under the Ghanaian Constitution.
“If you are a young person, don’t lose hope, be assured that we will make sure we represent you in court and protect your rights under the constitution of Ghana.”
