‘Nkonkonsa’ Mahama Insulted Ashantis Over Roads; Akufo-Addo Hasn’t- Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has played back the insulting statements former President John Mahama issued to Ashantis when they cried about the deplorable state of their roads.

Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated on Wontumi TV that unlike Mr. John Mahama, President Akufo-Addo has done massive things for the region including road infrastructure.

His comments were linked to the misinterpretation assigned to an interview President Akufo-Addo granted to Otec FM when he visited Ashanti region to cut sod and commission several projects.

During an interview on Kumasi-based Otec FM on Monday October 17, President Akufo-Addo said “If you decide to vote for the NDC in the general election, it is your choice and that is not my problem. No one will force you to vote for someone” when his attention was drawn to the fact that some people have threatened to vote against the NPP because the government has not developed parts of the country as expected.

Chairman Wontumi stated that unlike President Akufo-Addo who accepted responsibility and promised to build roads for the region, former President John Mahama came there to “insult” them.

“Mahama told us that even if he brings gold here to construct roads, we won’t appreciate it but Nana Akufo-Addo hasn’t said such a thing to us. Don’t listen to the NDC propaganda. NDC more interested in nkonkonsa”, he said.
