Neutral Venue An Advantage, But A Trap Too – Otto Addo On Madagascar Clash

Ghana head coach Otto Addo believes facing Madagascar on neutral territory offers the Black Stars an edge in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier.

The crucial Matchday 6 encounter will take place at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco, with kickoff set for 19:00 GMT.

While Addo acknowledges the benefits of playing at a neutral venue, he also warns against the psychological pitfalls his team must avoid.

“Should be [an advantage for us]. Actually yes [it’s an advantage for us] because it’s always not that easy if you play away [from home] and there are a lot of spectators, but sometimes it’s also a trap, psychologically,” the 49-year-old told Ghana FA media.

“Sometimes if you think [that] it’s not going to be a hot atmosphere, it’s kind of a trap and you give maybe one or two per cent less, and for me… we have to be on our toes,” he added.

After a dominant 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium last week, Ghana is eager to build on their momentum against Madagascar.

The Black Stars are determined to secure a fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico next year.
