Yaw Adomako Baafi, Former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has confidently stated that the National Democratic Party (NDC) cannot conjure any magic to meet President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s achievements.
According to him, the Nana Addo/Bawumia administration has impressive record of infrastructure development, economic growth, and social interventions that has set a high standard that the NDC cannot match in 4 years at office.
Mr Baafi advised the NPP to listen to the grassroots as well, emphasizing that the party’s disconnect from the ordinary people is a major factor contributing to their inability to win the just ended elections.
He attributed the party’s defeat to multiple factors but remains optimistic about their chances of bouncing back.
While on the Wontumi Radio/TV Morning Show, he also dismissed claims that Muslims betrayed the NPP’s Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by not voting for him in the recent elections. Baafi questioned the logic behind such claims, asking why Christians didn’t vote for Dr. Bawumia despite his impressive potentials and policies.
He further commended the team surrounding Dr. Bawumia, describing them as “fantastic and loyal”. However, he acknowledged that some mistakes were made during the campaign. Specifically, he mentioned that certain party members, like Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, former MP for Dome Kwabenya shouldn’t have been given a platform due to her loss of credibility in her constituency.
“Despite her diminished credibility, Adwoa Sarfo was still allowed to participate in the campaign team at high-profile events,”he said.
