A Communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Akom has made a startling revelation that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has acknowledged the benefits of the Betting and E-Levy taxes.
According to Akom, the NDC has recognized the effective functioning of these taxes, which is why they are attempting to abolish them.
In an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi’s morning show, Akom stated that the previous government introduced these taxes to address potential economic challenges and support school infrastructure and social spending. He emphasized that the taxes were designed to ensure a stable economic future for Ghana.
“Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto included plans to address the challenges posed by these taxes,” Akom explained.
“However, it is surprising that the NDC, which initially opposed these taxes, now seeks to scrap them entirely.”
He emphasized that the government must prioritize the welfare of Ghanaians and ensure that taxes are used efficiently to support the country’s development.
