Nana Addo Begins Tour Of Three Newly Created Regions
Minister of Information, Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, on Tuesday shed light on the President’s six day tour of the three newly created regions which used to be part of the Brong Ahafo Region. The Regions are Bone East, Bono and Ahafo.
As part of the tour, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will cut the sod or commission projects in these regions or inspect those under construction.
Hon Oppong Nkrumah who was addressing the media in Kumasi said the President who returned from Niamey, Niger on Monday from the 57th ECOWAS Summit in Niamey, Niger was held.
At the Summit the President was unanimously elected as the ECOWAS Chairman.
On the first day of his tour, Nana Addo was expected to cut the sod for the construction of the Atebubu – Kwame Danso Road. Later, in the day he was to feature on a live interview programme on Classic FM at Techiman during which he is expected to address some pertinent national issues.
On Wednesday, the President will inspect the Tuobodom roads and on Thursday, he will continue with the inspection of ongoing road projects including educational infrastructure.
As part of his itinerary the President who will address a durbar of chiefs will also present 25 vehicles and motorbikes as well as some logistics under the Special Development Initiatives (SDI) to some selected districts in the three newly created Regions. The beneficiary Departments and Agencies include the Births and Deaths and the DVLA.
The President’s inspection of the Business Advisory Centre at Goaso has been given prominence on the executive itinerary. He will also visit an agro processing Factory at Tuobodom.
Hon Nkrumah gave the assurance that in the coming weeks, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, will hold a special meeting with him on some road improvement initiatives in Ashanti which will aim at addressing the mounting complaints by some aggrieved residents who always lament the poor road network.
Meanwhile, the Vice President, Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia, has stated that the election of Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo as the Chairman of ECOWAS is a “confirmation of his sterling leadership experienced everyday in Ghana.”
In a congratulatory message posted on his Facebook page the Vice President said, “As the world transition through the new-normal, your visionary leadership will be instrumental for ECOWAS member states,” the Vice President said.
He concluded by saying, “May the Lord continue to make you great and strong. We are proud of your selfless leadership.”

President Akufo-Addo takes over from Nigerien President, Mahamadou Issoufou, who held the position for a year.
In his acceptance address, the President said: “When we think of West Africa together with our individual countries, we are not just being pan-Africanists, we are also being true nationalists because what makes West Africa more prosperous will make each of our individual countries more prosperous.”
He urged his colleague heads of state to give enthusiastic support to community decisions and build ECOWAS rapidly.
“Our people deserve no less, and the objectives of peace, progress and prosperity will, thus, be within our reach, realising the historic purposes of ECOWAS,” President Akufo-Addo said.
The ECOWAS Chairmanship position is held for one year
