Since 2018, thousands of Menzgold customers have embarked on demonstrations to demand the release of their money.
They also engage with Menzgold and the authorities in a war of words.
Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe, presiding over the Accra High Court’s Financial and Economic Crimes Division has given the Economic and organized crime office (EOCO) the authorization to auction properties of Nana Appiah Mensah a.k.a NAM 1.
Before the order, EOCO filed a motion in court asking the court to auction the assets of Menzgold.
NAM 1 is set to lose Brew Energy and G-Tech Automobile Service which are companies that will be sold together with Menzgold’s assets.
Other properties of NAM 1to be auctioned are Brew Marketing Consult, Star Madrid Football Club in Madrid Spain and Zylofon Art Complex.
Furthermore, NAM 1’s Zylofon Music and Media Company Limited plus two properties located at Trassaco Valley, an uncompleted residential property, and 510 acres of land have all been frozen by the High Court.
Menzgold Ghana Limited was a fraudulent gold dealership and investment firm that promised customers an average of 7-10 percent monthly returns on investments.
It was subsequently shut down by the Government of Ghana.
In December last year, Menzgold released the names of some customers who it claimed would receive their money by June 2022.
