The popular Ghanaian politician, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi has narrated the genesis of his name “Wontumi”.According to the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, he chose his name because he wanted to throw a challenge on himself in achieving his dreams of becoming a billionaire.
As a young man who was unsure of where life was taking him after losing his first noodle business when he came back from London, he persisted and kept going. He recounted how FDA delayed the approval process because the writings on the noddles were korea which made reading difficult, and when it was finally permitted the product had expired, leading to a huge loss. Anyone in his position could have given up, but he was more determined to get back on his feet and become who he had set his mind to be.
“Whatever one decides to do, he must always tune his mind that he may or may not achieve it. With that mindset you will be encouraged to go beyond to get it done. And that is the spirit of a go-getter. No one can be your source of motivation than yourself.”
He told how he slept on the verandas of the Palace in the Regions he travelled to work, and at a point served as a help to the chief, washing, cleaning and pounding fufu just to have a place he can put his head.
Today he is that big person he had always wanted to be. Recently he revealed his intentions to buying Chelsea after Abramovich the owner of Chelsea decided to sell the club, and out of the two hundred bidders he was part of the selected five.
He encouraged young people to work hard in achieving their dreams and always speak life in them.
