MTN Ghana Gifts Babies Born On Christmas Day With Hampers

MTN Ghana, through its Foundation has given hampers to mothers who gave birth on Christmas Day.

The gesture from Ghana’s leading telecommunications network provider is a continuation of an annual tradition that started in 2011.

On every Boxing Day, MTN Ghana Foundation visits hospitals across the country to hand out hampers to mothers that give birth on Christmas Day.

In the Ashanti Region, MTN visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Maternal and Child Health Hospital (MCHH) all in Kumasi to donate 50 hampers to mothers and their new born babies.

Charles Osei Akoto, Senior Technical Head, Northern Business District reiterated the joy MTN shares with the mothers.

According to him the gesture is a traditional affair and MTN will continue to share in the happiness of mothers during such periods.

He noted that the hampers contain baby detergents, baby oil and powder, hand sanitizers, and many other items including Ghc 100 worth of airtime.

Mr. Osei Akoto used the occasion to wish the mothers and loyal customers of  MTN a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.

“We are happy to share in the joy of mothers bringing new life into the world on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.It’s Christmas and as you all know it is a season of love and giving and MTN uses this opportunity to reach out to mothers who have babies on Christmas Day to share love and to give gifts to these mothers”, he emphasized.

Receiving the hampers on behalf of the mothers, Snr Midwife In Charge of Gynaecology at KATH, Mrs Afia Serwaah Ayegbe was thankful to MTN for the gesture.

She said the hampers and the content will go a long way to help the mothers.

The In Charge of Labour Ward at the Maternal and Child Health Hospital (MCHH), Evelyn Osei Sraha advised mothers to visit the hospital regularly as soon as they get pregnant.

“We are grateful for what you have done for these mothers today. We really appreciate MTN Ghana for what they have done and we pray that the good Lord will make you great to enjoy more successes in the years to come,” she said.
