Famous Nollywood actor, Moses Armstrong has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.
Emeka Rollas, the national president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria(AGN), confirming Armstrong’s arrest, stated that the case is “a very serious one”.
He disclosed that the case is being handled by Akwa Ibom’s First Lady, Martha Udom Emmanuel through her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.
Rollas said: “To get involved with a child as young as 16 years, is not something I and the association I represent stand for.
“This is a very sad development involving a member of ours, but I would not want to comment any further on this case.
The AGN president added that the organisation frowns at such a crime.
According to www.ngnews247.com, Moses Armstrong who is also a singer was born in the 1970s and raised in Akwa Ibom State in south southern Nigeria. He is a graduate in Catering and Hotel Management in Seoul, South Korea.
Moses joined the Nigerian movie industry in 1999. He was given a role by merit after undergoing series of auditions in a movie, Bodyguard produced by Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi in which he played a sub-lead role.
He has since made a tremendous impact in Nollywood, starring in several movies such as Ajiko Forest, Soldier Boy, Trap, Spiritual Challenge, Western Union, Kissing the Wind, Bodyguard, Come in Peace among others.
According to Moses, Ajiko Forest is his most challenging movie where he played the role of a wealthy Chief alongside Zack Orji taking another role of governorship aspirant in a state.
In the movie, Moses sponsored Zack Orji with N3 Billion to become the governor of the state, but with his status as a political godfather, abducted Zack Orji.
Moses was recently appointed Special Adviser to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Agriculture.
