The founder and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) Kofi Akpaloo, says the government is justified in its efforts to pump more money into the system as a way of making the economy more viable.
“There has to be adequate money in the system to go round because th availability of liquid cash makes the functioning of economies more effective so things can keep going.” He noted.
Mr Akpaloo who is aspiring to be the next president of Ghana was a guest on Wontumi TV/Radio late afternoon political talk show programme, “Amamuo Mu Nsem” on Friday.
He emphasized that “when there is money in the system, it creates the ideal environment for businesses to boom.”
“When there are more goods on the market and the service sector is vibrant, there is the tendency that those who patronize them will pay taxes including VAT thus, enriching the government’s kitty.” He said
According to Mr Akpaloo, an accountant by profession, one area which is key in creating a vibrant economy is when contractors are paid.
He added, “In every situation where contractors get paid the banks become busy because their vaults will be stashed with money, hence there is a borrowing spree which fuels the economy to be vibrant.”
Mr Akpaloo who was hesitant to shower praises on the government for the numerous infrastructural projects it has initiated said the free senior high school which is a social intervention initiative “stands out.”
“I’m reluctant to shower praises on the government for its achievements, particularly the introduction of the Free SHS else I risk being termed NPP member but truth be told, it is a monumental achievement which we all as Ghanaians have to acknowledge.” He told the programme host, Nana Konadu Abu Prah.
