The Ashanti regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has told former President Mahama not to jubilate over their victory in Assin north.

According to former President Mahama, the NDC is likely to win 2024 elections because they emerged victorious in the Assin north by-election.

This, Chairman wontumi has responded to the former President saying that the seat was already an NDC seat and thus, there’s nothing so extraordinary for Mahama to jubilate about.

“In any case, what’s so special about you winning an election in a constituency that already belonged to you, what makes you think that because you won the Assin north by-elections, you’re winning the general elections? Think and speak as a former President”, he said on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV/ Wontumi radio.

Chairman Wontumi used Manchester City’s journey to become the winners of UEFA champions league as case study.

He said “Manchester City are the reigning champions of the 2022/2023 UEFA champions league. Would you say that they were never scored in any of their matches prior to the finals? Of course, they lost in some matches. However, after those failed games. they meet and develop new strategies to ensure that their next games were better- and it worked for them. This is how they became winners of the UEFA champions league”.

He disclosed that the party executive called for an emergency meeting yesterday at Assin Praso to discuss and review all the happenings before, during and after the by-election.

Chairman Wontumi told Mahama not to tickle himself and be laughing. He said r3emember that electorates of Assin North voted massively for Nana Addo and the NPP in the 2020 elections and thus, shouldn’t think that because Gyakye Quayson has been voted for in the by-election, it’s the same way they are going to vote for the NPP”, he said.
