Mama Pat Files Nomination Forms As NPP Candidate For Asokwa —As Supporters Turn EC Office As Campaign Grounds.

Asokwa Member of Parliament (MP), Madam Patricia Appiagyei, for a record third time has filed her nomination forms on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections on December 7.

Wearing a clean white shirt on a neat blue skirt with a pair of golden brown sandals to match, the ever-smiling and confident two-time MP successfully filed her forms at the Ashanti Regional Electoral Commission (EC) Office Wednesday morning, some few minutes after 11.

Accompanied by some constituency executives and the Asokwa MCE, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah, the flamboyant MP, Madam Appiagyei painstakingly went through every item needed to ensure she properly filed to acquire the status as candidate when the EC finally and officially announces same early next week.

Moments after entering the EC strong room to file, scores of NPP supporters in Asokwa who had gotten wind of their MP’s presence at the EC office thronged the precincts of the Commission to offer support to their choicest aspirant.

With loud chants of ‘’Sompahemaa’’, the Asokwa NPP supporters turned the EC compound into a campaign ground.

Trooping in like a swarm of bees, other members of the party who had heard on radio that the two-time MP was filing for a third term bid were seen alighting from taxis and hired vans to support their famous and caring mother.

Turning the place into a jamboree, the supporters danced and shouted amidst deafening applause anytime they mentioned the name of Madam Appiagyei.

However, the cheers became too deafening at a point warranting the EC officer, Mr Robert Gyamera to persuade the crowd to tone down and do so when their MP was done with the filing process.

MESSAGE:

At exactly 11: 45am, Madam Appiagyei emerged from the EC returning officer’s room and the sight of her sent the crown into frenzy.

With the shouts of ‘’Sompahemaa’’ reverberating the precincts of the EC office, Madam Appiagyei lifted the EC document that signaled her successful filing to the crowd and newsmen.

In her succinct comments, Madam Appiagyei noted, ‘’I am ready to fight to retain the Asokwa parliamentary seat for the NPP which I have held sway for two terms now’’.

She commended the people of Asokwa for the faith they have reposed in her for the last 8 years and promised to initiate a vigorous agenda for more development in the area of roads, health care and social amenities for the people.
