Mahama Presented A Manifesto Instead Of A State Of The Nation Address- Hon. Elvis Dapaah

Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South Constituency, Hon. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, has expressed disappointment with President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), delivered on February 27.

In an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi morning show, Hon. Elvis described the president’s address as a “manifesto” rather than a genuine SONA.

According to Hon. Elvis, Ghanaians expected President Mahama to provide solutions to the country’s pressing issues, but instead, he failed to address critical concerns, including youth employment.

This, Hon. Elvis argued, is a betrayal of the President’s campaign promise to create jobs for the youth. Ironically, President Mahama sacked employers hired under the previous government within two months of taking office.

Hon. Elvis also criticized President Mahama for not acknowledging the presence of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, unlike Speaker Bagbin, who did. Furthermore, Hon. Elvis lamented the lack of jobs, which he believes is driving young people to steal. He also accused President Mahama of lying about his promise to address the ‘dumsor’ issue, which has only worsened.

Additionally, Hon. Elvis questioned the president’s priorities, citing his plan to build teaching quarters for teachers while neglecting to build classrooms for learners. “It doesn’t make sense,” Hon. Elvis concluded.
