Local Governance Service To Partner Controller & Accountant General To Eliminate Ghost Names From MMDAs

The National Association Of District Co-ordinating Directors has held its 6th Annual General Conference in Kumasi.

The theme for the conference was “Digitisation: A Critical Tool For Transforming MMDAs”.

Addressing the District Co-ordinating Directors, the head of the Local Governance Service, Dr Nana Ato Arthur hinted that the service will liaise with the Controller and Accountant General Department to eliminate Ghost workers at the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

He said the Service is making effort to bring sanity to the MMDAs.

Dr Nana Ato Arthur added that the Service is making effort to strengthen records management.

He said that the outfit will introduce a health insurance policy to MMDA staff.

He urged the Co-ordinating Directors to embrace digitization and shun the traditional method of doing things.

The Head of the Local Governance Service advised them to shun the culture of indiscipline thus improper dressing, lateness to work, and absenteesim.

Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei- Mensah who graced the occasion said the fast-changing global technological advancement cannot make a person do away with digitisation.

According to him, inefficiency, lack of transparency and accountability are the bane of MMDAs.

Simon Osei Mensah impelled the Coordinating Directors to digitize the process of property identification at the Assembly.

He said it will minimise the human interface and reduce the level of corruption.

 

The Ashanti Regional Minister challenged them to invest in digitizing their process to ensure sincere productivity and service delivery to reduce the cost of operation and inefficiencies.
