The National Chairman for the National Democratic Congress, Mr. John Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito has stormed Wonoo a town in Kumawu to support his party’s parliamentary aspirant.
Akua Konadu Yiadom, a reporter with Wontumi TV/Radio reports that General Mosquito arrived at Wonoo in the company of John Dumelo.

Akua Konadu Yiadom is reporting from Wonoo-Kumawu and claims that only 70 people have come out to vote at the first voting center she visited. She commended personnels from the Ghana Police Service for their efforts at the area. She also stated that vehicles belonging to the Peace Council has been spotted in the area as well.

The independent candidate will struggle to get 2,000 votes. The independent candidate, Kwaku Duah according to Mr. ishaq Kyei Brobbey is coming from a family which is mainly made up of NPP member.
However, Mr. Brobbey explains that Kwaku Duah’s family members would vote against him because they know it will be waste of time to vote for him.

A political analyst, Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey has stated that despite knowing the outcome of the Kumawu by-election even before the Electoral Commission closes polls, the NPP needs a resounding victory to send an important signal to every political party with interest in ruling Ghana.
- Elections put on hold at Woraso-Kumawu
Voting has been put on hold at Woraso-Kumawu. The incident according to our reporter started when disabled voter called for help at the voting center. Our reporter Peprah Wilson, says authorities at the voting center are working together to ensure the voting resumes soon.
“The NDC candidate says he hasn’t seen a disabled person being assisted at a polling center before. It took the intervention of the police to bring peace. I see this as a tactics by the NDC to disrupt the process”, an eye witness said to the channel.

Our reporter, Nana Adjei is reporting that voters at Besoro at Kumawu mainly NDC members are warning that they won’t go to voting centers to vote if they are not given GHC100 by party officials.

Dr. Afriyie Samuel Afriyie has attributed the low voter turnout at Kumawu to farming activities in the area. Speaking as a studio guest on the Wontumi Morning Show, Dr. Afriyie stated that Kumawu is a farming community and most people would want to visit their farms before turning out to vote later in the day.

Dr. Samuel Afriyie is calling on Kwaku Duah to stepdown from contesting today’s election. According to him, Kwaku Duah wants to create an impression that he has value at Kumawu. No independent, in Dr. Afriyie’s view has won an election at Kumawu. “This is the second time he is contesting and he is not going to win”, he said.

It is alleged that some members of the NDC are bribing voters with GHC20 and urging them to vote for their candidate for the Kumawu by-election. According to our reporter, people who receive the cash bribe are not for free. “After giving you the money they attach a curse to it if you refuse to vote for the NDC candidate”, our reporter said.

Mr. Jonathan Asante Otchere has claimed that the real by-election would be held at Assin North and not Kumawu.
Parliament has been ordered by the Supreme Court to expunge James Gyakye Quayson’s name from its records as a Member of Parliament.
Prior to this, the Supreme Court had restrained James Gyakye Quayson from holding himself as the Member of Parliament for the Assin North constituency in the Central Region.
For this reason, there would be another by-election at Assin North.
