A media personality at Wale FM in Walewale, Salifu Nbadmah Idrisu, has spoken out on behalf of the Walewale residents and communities. He appealed to the government to lift the curfew imposed on the area.
Speaking on Wontumi’s morning show with Oheneba Nana Asiedu, Salifu stated that there is no conflict or harm in Walewale and its communities that would warrant a curfew. Instead, he emphasized that the area enjoys peace and unity among its residents.
According to Salifu, the residents explained that the actual issue was armed robbers attacking them while traveling from one bus to another. However, the government did not address their concerns, which could have led to a situation similar to the one in Bawku.
Salifu believes that the curfew is not a genuine measure to ensure peace but rather a form of punishment imposed by the government to satisfy certain individuals. He noted that the Walewale curfew differs from others, as military personnel were allegedly attacking and beating people in their homes and communities instead of maintaining order.
In conclusion, Salifu expressed concerns that the military personnel in charge during the curfew were from other tribes and did not provide proper guidance to maintain peace in the community.
