Let Us Forgive Each Other And Rally Behind Bawumia – Nana Obiri Boahen Advises NPP Executives, Members

Former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen has appealed to all executives and party members across the country in the name of the party to forgive each other if anyone has wronged them in one way or the other and rally behind the party’s Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen stated that even though many party members and executives have possibly trodden on someone’s toes in one way or another, everyone should move past this and come together to break the eight, which is the party’s goal.

“I am pleading with the irate members to forgive one another on behalf of Dr. Bawumia and the NPP. “They ought to gaze up at the sky and pardon themselves for the benefit of the gathering,” he bemoaned during an interview.

He brought to light that despite the fact that some members have given up a great deal to help the party flourish since 1992, they have never looked back on their time spent working for it.

The NPP seems to be at a crossroads. The ruling party has elected Dr. Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2024 elections and elected its Parliamentary candidates, constituted campaign team and manifesto committees but the only puzzle left is the selection of the running mate to partner Dr Bawumia. It is a known fact that various interest groups within the party have started lobbying for their preferred candidate to be chosen as vice Presidential candidate. To make the ticket of the paring more stronger many have urged NPP to choose its running mate from the Ashanti region, the “World Bank” of the party. So the lobbying is intense in the Region and therefore seems to have created “tension and deep division” in the Ashanti NPP.

In order to address the concerns of party members, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen proposed that the NPP open a new chapter if Dr. Bawumia becomes President in 2025. He said failure to do so would not be beneficial for the party.

He further appealed that the party executives and members should not wash its dirty linen outside.
