Lecturer praises Chairman Wontumi, for supervising an incident free and fair parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies in the Ashanti Region
A LECTURER in Political Science has commended the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, for supervising an incident free and fair parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
Dr. Afriyie Bonsu says the Regional Chairman and his executives deserve commendation for staying true to their promise of ensuring a non-interference exercise in all of the 3 orphan constituencies in the region.
According to him, the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) electoral fortunes will be adequately enhanced if similar apporach is adopted in the wholesale primaries slated for next year.
The Ashanti NPP, under the leadership of Chairman Wontumi successfully held primaries at 3 orphan constituencies namely Asawase, Sekyere Afram Plains and Ejura Sekyedumase, contrarily to fears of violence and intimidation.
It is against this background that the University Don is giving credit to the regional leadership for a good job done.
He was of the view that considering the crucial nature of next year’s polls, it is necessary for the party to allow a level playing field for all qualified candidates to participate in the competition without any discrimination, stressing that an open and transparent process will help boost the chances of the ruling party at maintain its seats and even increasing its number next year.
‘It is for this reason that I commend Chairman Wontumi for showing leadership; I singled out Wontumi because as we know in the Ashanti Region the stakes are always high and everyone would want to do anything possible to win their slots” He noted
