Private legal practitioner, lawyer Nana Serwaah Acheampong, has pleaded with government to do something about the deplorable state of affairs at State Owned Enterprises (SOEs)
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Political Show, she said “we cannot pay CEOs in the public sector the same way their colleagues in the private sectors are paid. Being in the State Owned enterprise means you are there to serve the nation and not to enrich yourself. State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) should look at the remuneration of CEOs because it cannot be the same as being in the private sector. Some of the appointees are not competent and do not do their jobs as they are supposed to, meanwhile they are calling for other allowances”.
“We should focus on their contributions to the country and not just giving them appointment because their party is in power. Management expense in this sector alone amounts to 70% of the money generated. There are a lot of leakages in that sector and we must look at it”, she furthered.
She cautioned SOE’s Chief Operating Officers (CEO) who are making losses because they are paying themselves fat salaries to have a second thought.
