La Liga: Alaves Host Villarreal As Athletic Club Clash With Mallorca

La Liga‘s three-way title race between Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona will continue to enthral in the Spanish top flight this coming weekend.

There is no better place to get your season-long ticket to the best football the world has to offer than DStv!

Of the glory-chasing trio, Atletico Madrid face the toughest task this weekend, as they head to the Coliseum Stadium for a clash with local rivals Getafe. Los Rojiblancos have leaned on their excellent defence this season, but manager Diego Simeone is looking beyond that aspect of their play.

“I don’t look at those [defence] statistics because they are just numbers. The only thing that counts is how you finish,” Simeone explained. “Along the way, we go game by game, which is what gives you the possibility, in the end, of reaching our goals.”

Real Madrid will also face a local rival, as they host Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Los Blancos superstar Kylian Mbappe believes things are really beginning to ‘click’ in attack for his team after their disfunction early in the campaign.

“I feel good, I am scoring many goals and the relationship with my teammates is very good,” said the French forward. “At Real Madrid every month is important, we know what we have to do and we are going for it with confidence, but also with humility, ready to give everything for the badge.”

Barcelona will face a tricky challenge when they host Osasuna, who have been a tough nut to crack this season and notably took two points off Real Madrid a couple of weeks back.

“In these matches, we need to play as a family – all of us who make up Osasuna,” said manager Vicente Moreno. “Not just those on the field, not just those of us near the pitch, but also those in the stands, and I’d even say you [the media]. This is a match to enjoy, to face together, and to play as a united Osasuna family.”

This round of La Liga also features Athletic Bilbao hosting Mallorca, as they continue their hunt for a top-four finish; Sevilla will be away to Real Sociedad; Valencia host Real Valladolid; and Villarreal face a trip to the Basque country for a clash with Deportivo Alaves.
