KODUA PROTÉGÉ TOPS ALL IN ASOKWA ELECTIONS…RECORDS 91.15% AT POLLS.
Papa Yaw Asare Bediako John, a known protégé of Justin Frimpong Kodua, a General Secretary hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Sunday night recorded the highest ever victory at the constituency elections in Asokwa.
Amassing a whopping 834 votes which in percentage point was 91.15%, Papa Yaw, the incumbent Asokwa NPP Secretary made a firm statement that he was not a pushover.
Lying on his belly with profuse bleeding was his only challenger, Charles Oduro popularly known as “borga”, who with all the noise including the dressing of a Sultan from Brunei to the venue of the election could only manage a paltry 81 votes which was about 8% of the votes cast.
Speaking to this reporter after ballots were counted, the white powder drenched-faced Papa Yaw Asare Bediako John said, “I am overwhelmed by the margin of victory and I thank God Almighty for this”.
COMPETITION:
The elated retained Secretary noted that even though there were assurances from people especially delegates that they would vote for him on Sunday, he did not anticipate to have such a margin of victory.
This, he posited shows that members of the New Patriotic Party in Asokwa were very appreciative of the service he had rendered over the four years he worked as constituency secretary.
“Sheikh”, as Papa Yaw is affectionately called said he was enamoured with the good will of the people and promised to work beyond what he did previously to better the lot of the members of the party.
“I promise to stick to the programs of empowering and upgrading the skills of polling station executives so that they can function effectively in their positions in the constituency”, Papa Yaw intimated.
CAMPAIGN SPONSORS:
The constituency secretary-elect said he was grateful for the personal involvement and guidance of his mentor, Justin Kodua Frimpong, CEO of the Youth Employment Agency.
He also thanked his father, Chairman Asare Bediako, aspiring regional chairman of the NPP and former Asokwa constituency for his timely advice throughout the campaign.
According to Papa Yaw, his godmother, Madam Patricia Appiagyei showed interest in his campaign and was calling almost every hour to check on him.
“If I want to thank people I would miss a bunch and for now my appreciation goes to the wonderful delegates of Asokwa who despite the competition I had have shown that they were appreciative of the sacrifices and work I had done in Asokwa and I most humbly thank Justin Frimpong Kodua and all others who showed me grace and kindness during my campaign”, Papa Yaw Asare Bediako John stated.
