“Keep Making Ghana Proud” – Barrister Tampuri To Ghanaian Students In Saudi Arabia
The Chief Executive Officer of Tamsons Legal Services in London, Barrister (Lawyer) Solomon Salifu Tampuri, has called on the Ghana government to create more opportunities for Ghanaian students studying in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, when they return home after their studies.
Mr Tampuri who was called to the British Bar in 2009 and has complimentary experience of legal work within legal firms, with a sound business knowledge and expertise in Immigration, Employment, Crime and Family Law, having set up and managed a government approved legal service in the United Kingdom, made these comments in an interview with Abdul Basit Yaqub Ouedraogo during his recent tour to some European countries and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Mr Tampuri who is also a trained pilot, was in attendance at a ceremony organized by the ghanaian student Union at the prestigious Islamic International University in Madina, Saudi Arabia which saw him being honored by the student body.
Mr Tampuri was grateful for the honor done him and impressed upon the Ghanaian students for the need to even do more than the current academic success they have exhibited and the fact that they are well behaved as students.
He stressed on the need for the students to take advantage of this great opportunity of a fully funded scholarship such that when all is said and done their communities and the country as a whole is going to reap the benefits of their education.
He added that there is so much to be done in Ghana, and the services of these students are needed in the development of the various zongo communities and the country Ghana.
Speaking on the contribution on the part of the government of Ghana, he advised government to recognize and assimilate these students into the ghanaian system in that they are very huge resources for the country and should not be left to rot in our various communities.
“Let’s incorporate these intelligent men into the affairs of Ghana, which is a role the Ministry of Education can play by recognizing their academic laurels even if the medium of education is not English.The government needs to utilize them as they are much equally ghanaians,”he added.
He equally called on the Vice president and other Muslim politicians to create opportunities for those studying Arabic and Islamic Studies internationally.
He further explained the need for the government to cater for all ghanaians in-terms of social-economic and needs irrespective of their background as that is the primary responsibility of any government to its people.
On his part, Dr Adam Umar Yabila, popularly known as “Yellow man”, and a senior student was grateful to Mr Tampuri for the time he spent with them and that their time with him has been an eye opener to the opportunities out there.
He said as students they have a bigger responsibility to their communities back home.
Mr Adam encouraged his colleagues to be conversant with the constitution and other governing regulations of the country Ghana so as to be relevant leaders when they return home after their studies.
