KEEA Flood Was A Natural Disastor- Hon. Ebo Appiah (VIDEO)

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Komenda Edina-Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) in the Central Region of Ghana, Hon. Ebo Appiah, has stated that the KEEA flood was a natural disaster.

He said this on Movement In The Morning Political Show following the heavy downpour that hit the district in the early hours of Saturday 18th June, 2022.

Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro he said, “What happened over the weekend was unfortunate. We are grateful to President Akufo-Addo and the Director General for the Natural Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for the timely intervention. They rescued residents with helicopters, the fishermen at Elmina and Ghana navy joined the rescue team with their boats. The incidence was a natural disaster- three rivers cohered and that led to the unfortunate occurrence. Expect from the University of Cape Coast’s (UCC) Geography Department says it’s a natural disaster that happens with rivers every 12 years’’.

He disclosed that most of the communities have collapsed and people have been displaced.

“Some of the people had to sleep at the Prisons Canteen under mosquito nets provided by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). Prisons officers were deployed to the community to rescue residents who got stranded in the flood; unfortunately a prison officer got swept away while saving the belongings of some of the residence’’, he revealed.

He called on individuals and cooperate organizations to come together and support the community and applauded individuals and organizations and the Regional Minister for responding swiftly to the emergency situation.
