John Jinapor Should Be Arrested Over The Missing Containers- Eric Debie
A communicator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Debie, has called for the arrest of Energy Minister John Jinapor over the missing ECG containers. Debie expressed frustration that despite Jinapor’s promise to locate the containers within a month, there has been no progress.
Debie highlighted the inconsistencies in the statements released regarding the missing containers, noting that separate statements were issued by the National Security Coordinator, Ports and Harbours, and the Minister himself., and yet over a month now, the containers haven’t been found.
Debie also criticized Jinapor’s explanation for the 14% tariff increase on ECG, which the Minister attributed to IMF conditionality. Debie questioned the logic behind this, pointing out that during the same IMF program, the Nana Addo administration was able to renegotiate terms that allowed for the employment of Ghanaian youth from 2016 to 2020. Debie asked why the NDC wouldn’t pursue similar renegotiations to benefit the country.
” Meanwhile, parts of Sunyani have been without electricity for 48 hours, and the country is still grappling with intermittent power outages, or “dumsor. A clear indication that Dumsor is actually back” he told Agyenkwa Nana on Wontumi TV.
