JOBERG Construction Partners Otumfuo Foundation
To Build 30 Bed Facility At Manhyia.
Private construction firm, JOBERG Ghana Construction Company is partnering with the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Charity Foundation to put up a 30 bed maternity block for the Manhyia Government hospital.
The project is aimed at decongesting the existing maternity facility which is currently doing more than the space it has.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony to commence construction, Board Chairman of the Foundation and Otumfuo’s Hiahene, Oheneba Boakye Agyei said the Government hospital needed expansion since the spaces available are totally inadequate.
He noted that for effective health delivery, every health facility needs to have appropriate infrastructure, undertake vital purchases of equipment and medicines and also have adequate funding backed by a proper managerial commitment from staff.
PROJECT FINANCIER:
Mr Joseph Magnus Marteye, Chief Executive of Joberg Ghana construction company said his outfit takes delight in partnering the Otumfuo Foundation to deliver such a project to cater for the health needs of the people.
He noted that the company stands ready to deliver the project in the 10 months schedule so that it could make it operational by AUGUST, 2022.
BACKGROUND:
The 30 bed facility is projected to cost about GHC 400,000.00 when completed.
Joberg Construction firm is contributing GHC 150, 000.00.
Otumfuo Foundation is contributing GH 219, 000.00 to the project.
MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT:
Speaking at the brief ceremony, Medical Superintendent at Manhyia Government Hospital, Dr Kamarudeen Korku Hussein said the hospital was grateful for the support it readily gets from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He also commended the two institutions for the collaboration and noted that the 30 bed facility would help to create more spaces for the hospital to attend to maternal cases that are reported.
He revealed that the hospital receives on the average 500 cases each day with maternal visits being about 200 a day.
Currently, he stated that the hospital needs a 50 bed facility to be able to adequately see to the numbers that visit the maternal section for care.
