Millions of Ghanaians would have been denied their right to vote in the 2020 general elections, if Mr. Mahama had acted as President of Ghana, a member of the New Patriotic Party has said.
Sammy Binfoh Dakwa in an address on Wontumi TV’s Nsempa Fie show stated that former President John Mahama would have used the issue of COVID-19, as an excuse to deny Ghanaians their right to vote.
“If Mahama was Ghana’s President, Ghanaians wouldn’t have voted last year. He would have declared a state of emergency but under Akufo-Addo we went on with our new voters’ registration and had a free and fair elections.
President Akufo-Addo even supported the Electoral Commission in the midst of COVID-19 to go about their duties”, Sammy Binfoh Dakwa pointed out.
He explained that due to the leadership qualities of President Akufo-Addo, the impact of COVID-19 on Ghana is minimal when compared to what is transpiring in other nations.
He quickly added that things would have been worse off if Mr. Mahama had been in the position to act as Ghana’s President.
Sammy Binfoh Dakwa raised the issue of erratic supply of power that defined the erstwhile government of Mr. Mahama as a major reason he would be a disaster to be Ghana’s President.
“In this same country we had a former leader who didn’t care about our plight. He couldn’t even show leadership when we had power crisis”, he said.
