It’s Worth Celebrating Women For What We Do —– Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addai

The President of Breast Care International (BCI) and Chairperson of Ghana Non-Communicable Disease Alliance, Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addai says women across the globe deserve commendation for the roles they play in ensuring homes and society are kept peaceful.

These roles, she noted, makes the lives of people better since women found everywhere are naturally hard working and effective at what they do.

Addressing participants including school children, young women and the aged at Asante Akyem Bompata during a program sponsored by the Hunger Project Ghana today as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day which falls every 8th of March, Dr Wiafe Addai rallied governments across the world especially Africa to educate their women.

“The best form of investment in Ghana would be to ensure every girl child was educated to make them useful to the society’’, Dr Wiafe Addai stated.

AWARENESS:

Dr Wiafe Addai said the government should decentralize educational systems to enable those in remote areas to benefit from the same.

According to her, sensitization and information sharing on disease prevention and treatment regimes on non-communicable diseases and others could be done effectively when the society is educated.

The cancer surgeon said the country can only break the bias and barriers to girl child (women) when more efforts are geared towards their education.

“More sensitization drives should also be channeled to the vulnerable as well as people in poor communities’’, Dr Addai noted.

STRATEGY ON HEALTH:

The BCI President urged the government to strategize in handling the health needs of the public.’

She noted that even though COVID-19 had a toll on the government’s budget and spending on health needs of the populace, she urged that more effort is directed on the treatment of non-communicable diseases in the country.

In attendance at the program was Mr Samuel Afrane, Country Director of the Hunger-Project-Ghana, Madam Elizabeth Davis, Nana Ama Acheampomaa Kotoka (Morsohemaa), Nana Akua Asantewaa (Adonfehemaa), Nana Adwubi Kete (Bompatahemaa).
