It Would Be Unfair To Blame Dr. Bawumia For NPP’s Defeat- Sammi Awuku

The Former Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has jumped to the defense of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, dismissing claims that he was the reason for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) election loss.

According to Mr. Awuku, he has not encountered anyone who has boldly stated that Dr. Bawumia was the reason they did not vote for the NPP or voted against the party. Instead, people have praised Dr. Bawumia’s campaigning efforts, saying he “campaigned like never before.”

Speaking with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV, he challenged those making such allegations to provide evidence, emphasizing that it would be unfair to blame Dr. Bawumia for the party’s defeat. He noted that even those who do not like Dr. Bawumia do not cite him as the reason for their decision not to vote.

“Dr. Bawumia is passionate about rebuilding the party from the grassroots level and is not focused on who leads the party in the next elections, noting that it shouldn’t be the focus at this moment.  Dr. Bawumia also believes that the current electoral college system is faulty and needs reform”, Awuku revealed.

The NPP’s poor performance in the recent elections has led to a period of introspection, with the party seeking to understand the reasons behind its setbacks
