Accra based Broadcast Journalist from Wontumi Multimedia and editor of ABC News, Gordon Asare Bediako, says he will not believe the high court if the founder of defunct Capital bank William Ato Essien is not jailed.
In an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning, on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Gordon stated vigorously that it has been long overdue for Ato Essien to be sentenced. According to him Ato Essien’s plan b to escape serving a jail term will not succeed, and added that the court should sentence him in order to prevent further embarrassment of the government.
Venting out his anger on the show, he said ”Dawuro many people do not know the things we in the studio know, so when the issue came yesterday and Attorney General took it to court, unfortunately it looked to me like a charade. Until Ato Essien is jailed, i won’t believe them. Check the headline you’ll realise its a plan b. Justice Kyei Baffuor told them that the moment Ato Essien will default the payment, the agreement will become null and void and he must be arrested immediately and jailed.
Why has he not been arrested, today’s date is 12th and he defaulted on 28th April, this is the second week why is he not arrested. Something he was asked to pay Gh90 million, he paid gh20million which is not even a matter of percentage, its about absolute and it renders the agreement null and void. They are playing with the hearts of people and embarrassing the government by making it unpopular.”
