Athletic Bilbao head coach Ernesto Valverde has described Ghana forward Inaki Williams’ work rate as “valuable” to the team.
He said this in a post-game interview after Bilbao secured a 3-2 win over La Liga’s second ranked team, Girona.
Despite his fine form for the Spanish side, Williams has largely struggled to shine for Ghana’s Black Stars and those struggles showed up in his debut campaign at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
Speaking on Williams’ form for Bilbao in comparison to Williams’s form for Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, Valverde said,
“He is a player who makes more intense runs than our opponents. However, these efforts cannot be repeated often because in the end, the player has to recover.”
“Strikers are valued for their goals and he has scored today. We are happy but overall, his work is always valuable to us.”
Bilbao ranks fifth in the La Liga standings with 49 points and are two points off fourth placed Atletico Madrid.
