Kweku Darlington has said despite his talent, Ghanaians are yet to appreciate him.
Comparing his situation to the legendary Daddy Lumba who he said did not get the recognition he deserved during the formative stage of his career, the Kumasi-based rapper said that Ghanaians are sleeping on his songwriting skills too.
‘At the time Daddy Lumba started, we didn’t see him as a legend. It is now that we are seeing and appreciating his talent.
As for me, I’m saying it here. Whether you like it or not, Ghanaians and the world are witnessing one of the best songwriters ever in Ghana,’ he said on New Day on TV3.
Darlington is widely known for his breakthrough song ‘Sika Aba Fie. The remix of the popular song features Fameye, Kuami Eugene, Yaw Tog and Kweku Flick.
Darlington began writing and recording music at the age of 14. In 2019, he entered the TV3 Mentor Reloaded reality show edition. He made it into the boot camp. He was however evicted during the first eviction show on 12 January 2020.
After leaving the show, he released several singles in 2020 including; PEACE (say no to xenophobia), Here We Go, Owuo, Promise, Obaa ne Barima and Nyansa. Obaa ne Barima was the most successful amongst those singles based on radio airtime play and video streams.
