The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned the Inspector-General of Police to avoid playing with fire if he thinks he can pin Bugri Naabu down in the matter of alleged plans to oust him from office which was captured in leaked audio tape.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated on Movement TV’s Bekyere Mu Show that the IGP, Dr. Akuffo Dampare will end up laughing at the wrong side of his mouth he intends to downplay the experience Bugri Naabu has in politics.
Chairman Wontumi told the host of the show Mr. Gordon Asare-Bediako that “Bugri is a very experienced politician; he has been part of every government from Kwame Nkrumah’s time to date. If Dampare thinks he can leak a tape from Bugri, he will be in trouble…. This is a man who used to carry Busia on his back to campaign grounds where the surroundings were hostile. He is a very strong man. During the Acheampong regime, he was also part of his government and understands politics.”
In a related development, Commissioner of Police George Alex Mensah has alleged that the brain behind a recording of his controversial plot of oust the IGP in a leaked conversation is the IGP himself, George Akuffo Dampare.
He made the allegation at the tail end of Day 2 of his testimony before the Samuel Atta Akyea-led parliamentary committee sitting at Parliament House in Accra on September 1, 2023.
