Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has issued a stern warning to judges of the law court who act timidly when celebrities appear before them to step down from the bench immediately.
Delivering a monologue on Wontumi TV on a show dubbed ‘Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem’, the seasoned lawyer prayed for courage for all judges but didn’t stop short on calling on the timid ones to resign from the bench.
“Even me that I am not a judge I am not scared of the people but you (judges) that the law backs you and you have the police acting as your security… The state and law is backing but some of you are cowards. If you know you are an afraid judge, leave the bench…we don’t want timid souls and those that fear celebrities that come before them”, he thundered.
He compared sternness of the modern day judges to that of the old judges and commended the latter group for being fearless than the group that have taken over from them.
Lawyer Ampaw however commended a financial court judge Serwaa Botchey for not tolerating “nonsense” in her court.
