Prior to the 2020 elections, Members of Parliament on the side of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) accused Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta of issuing bonds and cooking corrupt deals such as the Agyapa royalty deal to steal from Ghanaians.
Yet when he appeared before the vetting committee of Parliament last week, everything pointed out that the minority MPs were satisfied with the work he has been doing as Ghana’s Finance Minister and it is on the back of this that the Bono regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe has scolded them for tagging Mr. Ofori-Atta with names he didn’t deserve.
Speaking on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, Chairman Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye stated that “they (NDC MPs) called Ken a thief and named him ‘agyapa’ and Ken bond. How can you accept a thief after vetting and approve him to be Finance minister?”
Abronye continued that the NDC MPs “deliberately lied about him (Ken Ofori-Atta) and called him a thief” noting that the minority MPs should have proved that they were right about their assertions when Mr. Ofori-Atta appeared before them to be vetted.
On March 25, 2021, Finance Minister-designate, Ken Ofori-Atta, appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament to be vetted.
