‘I Will Be Back’ Was For My 3Music Awards This Year – KiDi Explains

Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeat singer and songwriter Kidi explained his “I will be back” utterance made at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on TV3 NewDay.

It can be recounted that Kidi made this utterance before losing out the Artiste of the year Award to Diana Hamilton.

In an interview with Berla Mundi, the Golden Boy elucidated that he made the utterance in anticipation of the “Artiste of the Year” award at the just-ended 2022 3music Awards, which happened over the weekend.

“I meant this year when I said I will be back. Artiste of the Year second time in a row. It’s a great feeling,” he excitedly shared.

Kidi was in contention with Kuame Eugene, Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Celestine Donkor, D-Black, Mr Drew, Gyakie and Stonebwoy in the 2022 edition of the 3Music Artiste of the Year category.

The singer further stated that all nominated acts in the category could have won, and his win is enough motivation to keep him working hard.

“Awards are awards. Even if Blacko won, he still deserved it. Everybody in that category could have won. The fact that it came to me, I’m really grateful. It’s motivation enough that I have to keep working hard.”

Kidi did not only win the ultimate award but also emerged winner of Album of the Year with his ‘Golden Boy’ album, ‘Best Male Vocal Performance,’ ‘Digital Act of the Year,’ and ‘Reggae Dancehall Song of the Year’.
The ‘Mon Bebe’ hitmaker expressed gratitude to all for the unflinching support of his music and craft over the years.
