Ghanaian Afrobeats singer Camidoh has issued an apology for his recent comments comparing Nigerian and Ghanaian women.
On the podcast “Rants, Bants and Confession,” Camidoh reportedly stated that Nigerian women are more open-minded than their Ghanaian counterparts, suggesting that Nigerian women are more exposed and understanding of various topics.
“Nigerian women are more exposed to whatever. It’s easy for a Nigerian woman to understand certain things a Ghanaian woman will not understand… there are topics that you talk about and Ghanaian women will be like eeeiiii, but Nigerian women understand and they are abreast with whatever is happening in the world,” he said according to 3news.com.
His comments, however, were met with backlash from netizens on social media.
During an interview on Onua Showtime with Nana Ama McBrown on October 11, Camidoh expressed regret for his remarks.
“I wasn’t necessarily insulting Ghanaian women… if this is how it came across then I’m sorry because I love my people, I love my Ghanaian women and they are supportive… I correct myself, pardon me,” he apologized.
This is not the first time the artiste has come out to apologize for comments made.
In August 2024, the ‘Sugarcane’ hitmaker apologized for a controversial statement he made about smoking.
He had compared smoking to the exposure to smoke that Kenkey sellers experience while cooking.
Following backlash on social media, Camidoh acknowledged that his analogy was a poor choice and retracted his statement.
