I Was Poisoned By My ‘Village People’ – Mr Ibu Says After Being Discharged

Nigerian actor and comedian, John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, has disclosed that his ‘Village People’ tried to end his life twice by poisoning him.

Nigerians, in the generality, describe “Village People” as evil blood relations, witches and sorcerers who reside in one’s village and sabotage a person’s progress.

Mr Ibu, who is 60 years old, made these revelations to Nigeria’s Premium Times on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

Mr Ibu has been ill for some weeks now and was admitted at Zenith Medical and Kidney Centre in Abuja.

However, he has been discharged from the hospital after he fully recovered.

Reports in Nigeria suggested that Mr Ibu was poisoned at an event in Abuja. But the comic actor has debunked those assertions, saying the attack on his life occurred in his hometown in Nkanu West, Enugu State.

According to Mr Ibu, he realized the effects of the toxicant when he returned to Abuja, where he is based.

Prime Times reports that during the interview with Mr Ibu, he was “full of life and in his elements.”

Explaining where and how he thinks the incident occurred, Mr Ibu said, “I was poisoned, but not at an entertainment event in Abuja. I was poisoned in my home town, and then I journeyed to Abuja, where the poison affected me and grounded me. At a point, I almost gave up, but God said; no, you are not going to give up. And here I am. I have been discharged”.

He pointed out that he has been battling the ailment for some time now as the exact sickness couldn’t be diagnosed by the health centers he visited.

He said: “It’s a long story because the sickness didn’t start today, all these while we’ve been running around, going from here to there, from one diagnosis to another, mentioned different names of sicknesses, I was even tired of the results, how could all these aliments be in one person’s body.”

This is the second time the life of the comic actor has been allegedly threatened through poisoning by his “kinsmen.”

Two years ago, in 2020, Mr Ibu put a message out that his kinsmen paid his domestic staff to poison him because of what he has been able to achieve for himself.

In an interview with a Nigerian TV station, Nigezi TV, Mr Ibu had earlier recounted how he was kidnapped and poisoned at an event in Nnewi, a commercial and industrial city in Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria.. He also noted that his protruding stomach was a result of the poison.
