The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has challenged Kwasi Kyei Darkwah to an intellectual debate and proved to him that the NPP’s agenda to break-the-eight-year jinx is logically than handing over the economy to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated that under the government of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, GDP growth increased from 3.7% to 6.3%.
Whereas under former President John Mahama, economic growth rate in 2016, according to Chairman Wontumi stood at 3.4%; the lowest in two decades.
President Akufo-Addo earned the respect of Chairman Wontumi who revealed that after John Mahama left inflation at 15.4%.
Chairman Wontumi continued that prior to COVID-19, Ghana became the fastest growing economies in the world with a GDP of 7%.
He therefore wondered why Kwasi Kyei Darkwah would want the country to run into reverse by preventing the NPP to break the 8.
“I know where KKD leaves at East Legon and the road leading to his before NPP came to power, wasn’t tarred. But as soon as NPP came to power, the road has been tarred and this simple act by the NPP should make him support our agenda to break the 8”, Chairman Wontumi said.
