A tycoon in the mining industry, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has fingered a board member of the Forestry Commission who is aiding a foreign company to destroy Ghana’s forest.
Mr. Antwi-Boasiako named Richard Nsenkyire as the brain behind the destructing going on at forest reserves within the Samreboi area within the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region.
Addressing the issue on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated that through the direction of Richard Nsenkyire, Samartex- a foreign company which is into felling of trees, is destroying the forest and stifling his mining operations.
Chairman Wontumi indicated that he has personally sent the issue to court and provided every legitimate document to show the activities of Samartex is impeding on his business operations.
“Last week a committee was set up to come up with an everlasting solution and it was to be chaired by Benito Owusu Bio. When the meeting was called, he (Nsenyire) said he is sick so he can’t make it. Then on Monday he failed to show up because he knows we have the documents so he retorted to the media for propaganda”, Chairman Wontumi said.
Chairman Wontumi stated that because he is a popular figure in Ghana, Samatex is trying to muddy his name by claiming he is into galamsey when indeed he isn’t.
